Mandaue City's 42nd Charter Day Celebration

Today marks the opening of the 42nd Charter Day Celebration of Mandaue City. On its 42 years of city-hood, Mandaue City still has many things to offer being a highly urbanized city and vision being the premier business destination of Central Philippines with a community free from want, living in an environment that is friendly to man, and nurturing life through arts, culture and sports.

Together with the opening of its 42nd Charter Day Celebration is the mission to provide balance between sustainable growth and a livable society, through good governance, business social responsibility and multi-sectoral involvement.


The celebration was started with a parade, and then followed by a short program which is highlighted by the selection of Mr. Muse of Mandaue City, a competition just like the macho gay, which was participated by the different departments.

Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2011

Carcar was the big winner in yesterday's Pasigarbo sa Subgo. After the finishing 3rd last year behind Bantayan and Sibonga, Carcar City's Kabkaban festival came back this year with a vengeance. They were not as loud in the press as the champions and runner-up of last year in run-up towards the big event but they made their statement during the competition itself. The victory was worth 1 Million pesos. Kabkaban is derived from the word "kabkab" which is a fern found in Carcar City. The City also placed well in street dancing and decorated audio van.


Argao town's LaTorta festival placed third in the best in showdown and they won the best jingle and the street dance competition. There were 29 contingents that performed this year.

Panglao Regent Park Resort, Bohol

Got a chance to stay at Panglao Regent Park Resort during our tour in Bohol last May 2011. The hotel is bright new. Our deluxe room was very clean, with nice furniture. The TV works perfect and the shower was huge. Most of the rooms have their own veranda facing the pool, that is just amazing. The staff is friendly. The food was really good, but not a lot of choice and a bit expensive. Our stay was so pleasant that we want to come back and back again.

A gorgeous pool is surrounded by lovely rooms, that felt like our bedrooms back home. Every member of staff was happy, friendly and extremely attentive. Trips around the island can be organized through reception.

The restaurant served amazing food and we found ourselves dining most nights by the pool as felt the food was better here than the beach restaurants and super cheap!

The location is a short walk from the famous alona beach, not too far from the action, but far enough away from the bars and music so you have a peaceful nights sleep!

Mandaue's Pride - Mandaue Biggest Bibingka

Mandaue City showcase its biggest bibingka or rice cake in time with its fiesta celebration last May 9-10, 2011, which is set to break Korea's record in the Guinness Book of World Records for the biggest rice cake.

It measured 182 square meters in area with a diameter of 50 feet and thickness of three inches which takes almost 2 days to be completely cooked. It uses at least 13,500 coconuts which were shredded and mixed with water to produce coconut milk,
61 sacks of rice and at least 60 sacks of sugar.

The preparation takes place in its cultural and sports complex which was observed by many Mandauehanons who are proud for its one and only pride, the Mandaue's Biggest.
